The Faberge Museum is considered the first private museum in Russia. It opened on November 19th, 2013, in the Shuvalov Palace in St. Petersburg. The idea of the museum was to gather repatriating items of cultural legacy from Russia.
Creating the Faberge Museum as a concept (dedicated to great jeweler Carl Fabergé) first appeared in 2004. In that year, a collection of Fabergé works (which had been collected by Malcolm Forbes) were purchased. Since then, the collection of works of decorative and fine art has amassed more than 4,000 items including 9 royal eggs and a couple of so called eggs for nobility. By its size, diversity, and quality, the museum is considered one of the best in the world.
